And there are pros and cons to each.
But I am loving the ease and simplicity of my current system so much!
I recently discovered an App called Wunderlist.
And, dare I say, it has changed my life! (And it’s FREE!)
It is not specifically for meal planning but for organization and keeping lists. And I’ve created many running lists including Target, Kids’ Stuff, Pet Store, Personal, Work Related, Groceries and Dinners.
Which leads me to how I meal plan these days….
I typically do my meal planning and grocery shopping on the same day each week. My day happens to be Sunday. So prior to Sunday, I will map it out. I do that by looking at the week’s schedule and determine how many dinners need to be made and it’s typically around 5.
I choose recipes including:
2) chicken or turkey
4) fish or seafood
5) egg bake or frittata
I go to my FIT AND FAB Pinterest page for ideas and once I find a recipe, I put the name of it in my ‘Dinners’ list. Then I pop over to the ‘Groceries’ list and add in what I need. I do this until I have the recipes needed and I add any additional groceries to my list.
I have the app on both my laptop and my phone so I have it anywhere I want to access it. And I have my phone with me when I go to the store.
I love how I can check off a grocery item or a meal after completion and it gives me a little ding when I do. I mean, is there anything more satisfying than checking something off a list???
And that’s it!
No paper. No flipping through cookbooks (although I love doing that too!). No learning a new meal planning software. EASY.
So, if you’re a list-maker like me, I urge you to check it out.
